Job summary

The Oregon Department of Human Services is seeking a Child Protective Services Worker (Social Service Specialist 1) in Pendleton. This role supports Oregon’s most vulnerable children and families through protective investigations and service planning within the Child Welfare Program.

The position requires a valid driver’s license, a relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, and the ability to work in high‑stress environments with trauma‑exposed populations.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications include: valid driver’s license, a bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field, or equivalent combinations with related experience.

Responsibilities

• Respond to referrals and determine whether child abuse or neglect has occurred.
• Gather information through interviews with parents and children.
• Observe and analyze the safety of home environments.
• Gather collateral information from school personnel, doctors, therapists, and law enforcement officers.
• Fulfill documentation requirements and enter info into databases.
• Present and testify in court.
