Job summary

South Carolina Department of Social Services is hiring a Child Welfare Services Case Worker Assistant in Berkeley County. You will assist with casework in assessment, family preservation and foster care, and help arrange transportation to community resources as part of a social service aide plan.

You will participate in a professional team to plan client services, request records, and refer to service providers. You may assist with documentation packets and emergency shelter duties when required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required with at least one year of child welfare experience.
• An Associate Degree or higher may substitute part or all of work experience.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to a motor vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provide services to remedy abuse, neglect, exploitation or self-neglect of children or adults.
• Assist with assessment, family preservation and foster care casework tasks.
• Arrange transportation to resources in the community as part of social service aide plan.
• Participate on a professional team to plan services for clients.
• Make requests for educational, medical, dental, law enforcement records, etc.
• Refer to service providers and participate in family group conferencing.
• Assist with Foster Care Review Board packets, IV-E packets, home studies, and ICPC packets.
• Assist with transportation of children and with visitation and parenting instruction.
• Perform related administrative duties and shelter/emergency response as directed.
