Job summary

Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) is hiring a full-time Child Welfare Assistant in Chicago to perform social work, group and outreach activities under supervision. The role supports individuals and families by implementing plans, monitoring progress, and connecting clients with services.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, and an AA degree is preferred. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required to visit clients and attend meetings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• AA Degree with two years of college preferred.
• Age requirement may apply.
• Record of compliance with the law and clearance on the Illinois CANTS.
• Basic knowledge of child development and parenting or equivalent life experience preferred.
• Demonstrate ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in a clear, comprehensible manner.
• Valid driver's license in good standing for the state of residency required.
• Access to reliable transportation for visits, meetings, and to transport clients as needed.
• Valid IL statutory minimum liability insurance coverage, bodily injury, and property damage.

Responsibilities

• Perform all tasks as required in the written plan.
• Meet productivity requirements as established by the program director or designee.
• Provide client monitoring and linkage to appropriate services both within LSSI and other community agencies.
• Complete and submit all necessary reports, billing, and documentation accurately and on time as required by agency and funding sources.
• Communicate with supervisor, work group and collateral agencies regarding individual's and /or family's needs.
