Job summary

Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) is hiring a full-time Child Welfare Assistant, Monday through Friday, under supervision of the program director. You will perform a variety of social work, group and outreach activities to individuals and families.

Essential responsibilities include client monitoring, reporting, and coordinating with internal and external services to meet needs. A high school diploma is required; an AA degree is preferred and driving is often necessary.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• AA degree preferred; two years of college.
• Age requirement may apply.
• Illinois CANTS clearance.
• Basic knowledge of child development or related life experience helpful.
• Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally.
• Valid driver’s license in good standing for state of residency.
• Access to reliable transportation for visits and transporting clients.
• Valid IL liability insurance coverage as required.

Responsibilities

• Perform all tasks as required in the written plan.
• Meet productivity requirements as established by the program director or designee.
• Provide client monitoring and linkage to appropriate services within LSSI and with community agencies.
• Complete and submit all reports, billing, and documentation accurately and on time.
• Communicate with supervisor, work group and collateral agencies regarding individuals and families’ needs.

Position Qualifications

• Record of compliance with the law and clearance on the Illinois CANTS.
• Basic knowledge of child development and parenting or equivalent life experience preferred.
• Demonstrate ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in a clear, comprehensible manner.
• Valid driver's license in good standing for the state of residency required.
• Access to reliable transportation for visits, meetings, and to transport clients as needed.
• Valid IL statutory minimum liability insurance coverage, bodily injury, and property damage.
