Job summary

Sports Facilities Management, LLC, through the Artesia Community Center, seeks a part-time Child Watch Team Member to support daily programs by supervising children, ensuring safety, and delivering friendly customer service in a busy recreation facility.

You will help with drop-offs, check-ins, and pickups, monitor activities, and coordinate with staff to maintain a welcoming environment for families. This role emphasizes safety, reliability, and teamwork in a community-focused setting.

STATUS: PART-TIME (NON-EXEMPT)

POSTION SUMMARY:

The Child Watch Team Member will assist in daily child programs such as monitoring, safekeeping, and enforcing daily operations while providing excellent customer service.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Assist children while they engage in group and individual sports activities
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment
• Assist with morning drop-off and check-in as well as afternoon pick-up and sign-out
• Assist other counselors/coaches with any other duties as assigned by Child Watch Manager
• Maintain effective discipline and safety procedures during child activities
• Transport children to and from school
• All other duties as assigned by management

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to work with a wide variety of children, ages from 7-12
• Flexible work schedule and regular attendance is necessary
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to maintain focus in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
• Must be detail-orientated and have outstanding organizational skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize
• Ability to remain calm and focused in difficult and stressful situations
• Must be respectful and friendly to our athletes, guests, and fellow team members
• Must work well with others
• Must take personal initiative for the betterment of the team and facility
• Able to enter information on a computer

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Must be able to lift 40 pounds waist high
• Will be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time whether indoors or outdoors, and squat, stoop or bend
• Must be able to identify problems and/or hazards and resolve or report to management
• Must comply with safety and health code standards
• Facility has intermittent noise
• Able to run/walk as needed

PREFERRED:

• CPR/First Aid Certified
• Camp experience
• Experience organizing youth activities
• Customer service and/or staff management experience
