## Description**Child Watch Lead****Pay:** $10.50/hour**Job Type:** Part Time**Schedule:** The position requires flexibility based on program and staffing needs and may include morning, daytime, evening, and weekend hours. The Child Watch Lead may be asked to provide coverage or take the lead when staffing availability requires additional support.**Position Summary**The YMCA of Indiana County is seeking a reliable Child Watch Lead to provide leadership and support for the daily operation of the Child Watch program. The Child Watch Lead is responsible for helping ensure children receive safe, quality care while providing direction and support to Child Watch staff. The Child Watch Lead assists with staffing and coverage needs, maintains a safe and welcoming environment, provides quality customer service, and follows all applicable YMCA policies, procedures, regulations, and YMCA of the USA guidelines.**Essential Responsibilities*** Provide leadership and direction to Child Watch staff during assigned shifts and help ensure staff follow YMCA policies, procedures, and expectations.* Monitor staffing needs and assist with coverage concerns to help maintain appropriate staffing for the Child Watch program.* Supervise and actively engage children in a safe, positive, and age-appropriate environment.* Ensure children are appropriately supervised and that applicable staff-to-child ratios and safety requirements are maintained.* Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and welcoming Child Watch environment.* Maintain accurate Child Watch records and required documentation.* Ensure equipment, toys, supplies, and the Child Watch area are properly maintained and ready for use.* Communicate professionally and effectively with parents, guardians, members, Child Watch staff, and YMCA leadership.* Address routine questions and concerns and refer situations requiring additional assistance or decision-making to the Director of Youth, Family and Educational Programs or other assigned supervisor.* Assist with training, orienting, and supporting Child Watch staff as directed.* Follow established procedures and use sound judgment when situations arise that are not covered by standard procedures.* Maintain a professional appearance by wearing appropriate YMCA attire and a YMCA name tag.* Remain focused on the children in your care and avoid distractions.* Perform other related duties as assigned.**Employee Benefits**Every YMCA employee receives a **free YMCA membership**, along with opportunities for professional growth and development.## Qualifications**Required Qualifications*** Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with children, parents and guardians, coworkers, and supervisors.* Must demonstrate the ability to provide appropriate supervision and engage children in a safe, positive, and age-appropriate manner.* Must be dependable, responsible, organized, and able to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.**Required Clearances & Certifications*** FBI Fingerprint (Department of Human Services), State Police PATCH, PA Child Abuse, Mandated Reporter clearances are required at the time of hire.* CACFP training required at time of hire.* Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED and Great American Academy certifications due within 90 days of hire.**Preferred Qualifications*** Education: Pursuit of a degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field preferred.* Experience: Two or more years of experience working in a childcare setting preferred. Customer service and supervisory experience are a plus.
