YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties seeks a Part-Time Child Watch Coordinator at the Pearl Street Family YMCA in Tacoma, WA. The role oversees activities for children 6 weeks to 7 years while parents use YMCA facilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent preferred.
  • 1–2 years related experience as a coordinator of people or activities preferred.
  • Ability to use computer and typical business software and office machines.
  • Demonstrated skills in customer service, public relations, organizational skills, communications, supervision, and file maintenance.
  • Complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day and other required trainings.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support in planning part-time staff interviews and trainings.
  • Assist in recruiting and supervising volunteers to assist with programming support.
  • Plan and organize age-appropriate activities. Play actively with the children. Adapt activities to the needs of each.
  • Monitor the health and socialization of children daily.
  • Assist with maintaining cleanliness and order in the child watch area.
  • Monitor the drop-off and pick-up of children to guarantee their safety while in our care.
  • Greet parents and help children feel welcome; communicate regarding their child's behavior.
  • Monitor day-to-day activities to maintain high quality operations including safety, progress and fun.
  • Provide support with Child Watch operations including meetings and office coordination.
  • Coordinate parent communication and address concerns via email, phone, and in person.

Job description

Position: Child Watch Coordinator

Wage: $20.06 to $21.32 per hour (Compensation is determined based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, with most new hires starting between the minimum and midpoint of the posted wage range)

Hours: Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per week

Location: Pearl Street Family YMCA, Tacoma, WA

As a Child Watch Coordinator, you will be responsible for coordinating, planning, and organizing age-appropriate activities for children ages 6 weeks to 7 years while parents are utilizing the YMCA facilities.

Qualifications:
  • Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support in planning part time staff interviews and trainings.
  • Assist in recruiting and supervising volunteers to assist with programming support.
  • Plan and organize age appropriate activities. Play actively with the children. Adapt activities to the needs of each.
  • Monitor the health and socialization of children daily.
  • Assist with maintaining cleanliness and order in the child watch area.
  • Monitor the drop-off and pick-up of children to guarantee their safety while in our care.

  • Assist in monitoring the Child Watch program to ensure quality standards are being met.
  • Provide support and assistance related to working with children's behaviors and interests.
  • Provide support in the supervision all part time instructors and volunteers.
  • Monitor monthly budget and make recommendations for adjustments to program director.
  • Provide administrative assistance including but not limited to the distribution, processing, and maintenance of all paperwork, records, reports, memos, correspondence, inventory, and resupply.
  • Maintain physical and/or electronic filing systems for all relevant information.
  • Meet performance measurement through annual giving, major gifts, and/or endowment by telling the Y story and raising charitable dollars to fulfill our mission.
  • Embraces and actively promotes an inclusive and equitable work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
