Job summary

The Gateway Region YMCA is seeking a part-time Youth Program Assistant to provide a safe, high-quality experience for participants and to support program activities Monday through Friday and Saturdays. This role emphasizes customer service and positive youth engagement within a supportive team.

We welcome applicants who are at least 16 years old with 1 year of experience working with infants, toddlers or preschoolers, and who are committed to YMCA policies and inclusive practices.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• 1 year experience working with infants, toddlers, or preschool.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe and high quality experience to the participants.
• Lead youth in educational, recreational, or social activities according to the program goals.
• Maintain positive relationships with staff, youth, volunteers and program site administration, demonstrating strong public relations.
• Ensure YMCA policies and guidelines are followed at all times.
• Provide safe conditions for the children and refrain from engaging in activities that may be hazardous or negligent to the well-being of the children.
• Supervise youth at all times and be responsible for assertive discipline procedures.
• Responsible for all aspects of customer service – including greeting parents, handling questions and staying informed on program activities.
• Ensure the individual needs of youth are met for proper coordination of the program.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
