Qualifications

  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certification from ARC/Heart Association/Institute within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate age-appropriate activities and events for children.
  • Supervise and engage with children in a safe and fun environment.
  • Monitor children’s behavior to ensure safety and adherence to YMCA rules.
  • Provide care for children of various ages, including toddlers and preschoolers.
  • Communicate with members regarding their child’s experience and concerns.
  • Follow emergency procedures to ensure safety of participants and staff.
  • Communicate positively with participants, parents, members and co-workers.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the children’s area.
  • Assist in planning, supervising and implementing the daily schedule and curriculum.
  • Demonstrate a warm, friendly personality with a diverse population.
  • Possess strong customer service and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift children and infants and sit/stand for extended periods.

Overview

The Child Watch Assistant works under the supervision of the Child Watch Attendant and shares responsibility for the overall supervision of children and program planning for minor children ages (6 weeks - 12 years of age). This role is crucial in supporting children through play and structure activities while ensuring that each child feels cared for and safe.

Schedule
  • Location: Cameron Family YMCA
  • Child Watch Assistant role is for minors only (16-17 year olds). If you are 18 or over and interested, please apply for the Child Watch Attendant position
  • Weekday morning shifts: 8:15 AM–12:15 PMSaturday: 7:50 AM–12:15 PMYou may be scheduled for a 3-hour shift within that time period.Minimum availability: You must be available at least 3 days per week.
Responsibilities

  • Must have a warm and friendly personality and the sensitivity to meet the needs of a diverse population

Qualifications

  • Valid school district Work Permit is required
  • Sincere interest in working with children
  • CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 daysofhireand must be from one of the following certifying organizations:
    • American Red Cross
    • American Heart Association
    • American Safety & Health Institute
