Job summary

YMCA of San Diego County is seeking a Child Watch Coordinator for the Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA in Encinitas. This part-time role oversees Child Watch and Kids Club operations, supervising staff and delivering safe, engaging experiences for children aged 6 weeks to 12 years.

You will hire, train, schedule and evaluate staff, maintain records, and communicate with parents while upholding high standards of safety, cleanliness and service. Wage: USD $20.00-$23.63 per hour.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• 2+ years’ experience working with infants and children, ages 2 months - 12 years.
• Previous supervisory experience.
• Sincere interest to work with children.
• Physical ability to lead and interact in group activities and perform related physical skills.
• Fingerprinting requirement for YMCA employees; background checks may follow conditional job offer.
• CPR/AED and First Aid Certification (Adult and Child/Infant) from ARC, AHA, or ASHI within 30 days of hire.

• Supervise drop-in participants in both Child Watch and Kid’s Club.
• Maintain a professional demeanor with parents, staff and children at all times.
• Provide leadership to establish a positive environment where youth and families are treated with respect.
• General cleaning and housekeeping responsibilities as needed.
• Physical ability to lift children and infants; respond to emergencies.

Overview

The Child Watch Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing Child Watch and Kid’s Club operations, and the coordination of staff and children between the ages of 6 weeks to 12 years of age. The Coordinator is responsible for maintaining high standards of safety, member service, cleanliness, and adherence to program guidelines as developed.

Schedule

• Location: Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA - Encinitas
• Part-time, Monday - Thursday and Saturday. Typical shifts are 8:00am - 1:00pm or 1:30pm - 7:00pm. Schedule can be coordinated based on availability.

Responsibilities

• Ability to adequately observe participant activities, enforce safety regulations, apply appropriate policies and procedures
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Licensing, state law and our government funders require that staff within YMCA of San Diego County be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and includesubsequentarrest notifications
• CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within30 daysofhireand must be from one of the following certifying organizations:
  • American Red Cross
  • American Heart Association
  • American Safety & Health Institute
