Qualifications

Job Summary:

Join our team at Burrell Behavioral Health as a Child Therapist, where you’ll provide specialized mental health services to children and adolescents facing emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges.

As a Child Therapist, you will conduct comprehensive assessments, develop personalized treatment plans, and utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques to help children build resilience, improve coping skills, and foster emotional well-being. This role requires strong collaboration with families, schools, and other support systems to ensure a holistic approach to care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy for children and adolescents in various settings.

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify emotional, behavioral, and developmental concerns.

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each child’s needs.

  • Utilize evidence-based interventions, such as play therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and trauma-informed care.

  • Collaborate with families, schools, and community resources to create a supportive network for each child.

  • Participate in clinical staffing/treatment meetings to discuss client progress and treatment recommendations.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with agency and regulatory standards.

  • Assist in crisis intervention and safety planning as needed.

  • Provide education and support to families on mental health topics, parenting strategies, and behavioral management techniques.

  • Stay updated on the latest child therapy best practices through continuing education and training.

Education and/or Experience Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.

  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in Missouri.

  • Experience working with children, adolescents, and families in a clinical setting preferred.

  • Knowledge of child development, trauma-informed care, and behavioral interventions.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Strong ability to engage and connect with children and their families.

  • Knowledge of diagnostic criteria related to child mental health concerns.

  • Ability to develop and implement age-appropriate interventions.

  • Experience with collaborating with schools, social services, and healthcare professionals.

  • Proficiency in case management, documentation, and treatment planning.
