REPORTS TO: Principal
The Child Support Assistant provides support to students with significant and complex needs, including medical, behavioral, and daily living supports, flexible (float) assignments. This role may support specific students or multiple classrooms, with assignments that may change based on IEPs and student needs. Working under the direction of the Principal or designee, this role collaborates closely with the School Nurse, teachers, and service providers to implement care plans and ensure student safety and well-being. Responsibilities include assisting with health, hygiene, personal care, and ensuring access to learning in a safe, respectful, and supportive environment.
This role requires the ability to obtain and maintain an active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license through the Rhode Island Department of Health.
NOTE: The safety of school children is an important responsibility of the teacher assistant program. As such, please note that all teacher assistants MUST be available for bus monitoring assignments and will be paid in accordance with the additional hours worked.
