REPORTS TO: Principal
The Teacher Assistant provides support to students with diverse learning, behavioral, and/or medical needs in 1:1, 1:2, or flexible assignments. TAs may be assigned to specific students. Assignments, including student, location, or program, may change based on IEPs, student needs, or school placement. Whenever possible, TAs follow students throughout their PPSD education to provide stability and consistent support. Responsibilities include assisting with instruction, reinforcing IEP goals, supporting social-emotional development, and promoting a safe, inclusive learning environment. TAs collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure each student’s success.
NOTE: The safety of school children is an important responsibility of the teacher assistant program. As such, please note that all teacher assistants MUST be available for bus monitoring assignments and will be paid in accordance with the additional hours worked.
