Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health at Hart House is seeking staff to provide structured residential care for pregnant and/or parenting women in recovery. The role offers 40 hours per week on the 1st shift, with day-1 benefits and a supportive team environment.

Responsibilities include developing activities to aid child development, coordinating with families and staff, maintaining safety, and processing shift documentation.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent in child development, childhood education, or child psychology.
• CPR certification and valid MA driver’s license required.
• Ability to engage with a diverse population in a supportive manner.

Responsibilities

• Plans individual and group activities to stimulate growth in language, social, and motor skills.
• Confers with parents and staff on children's status.
• Guides mothers during family time with age-appropriate activities.
• Monitors families on each floor and in common areas.
• Ensures safety and performs security and supportive tasks.
• Completes checklists and daily communications for the second shift.
• Participates in all second shift tasks including medication check-in.
• Interacts professionally with coworkers and external programs.
• Attends daily shift meetings and supervision.
• Provides transportation for families when necessary.
• Maintains a clean, safe working environment.
• Follows organization policies and other duties as assigned.

Hart House is a long-term residential recovery home providing a 24 hour structured rehabilitative environment for pregnant and/or parenting women recovering from drug and/or alcohol addiction. The program aims to provide women with the skills necessary to maintain their sobriety and the education, skills, and guidance to be effective, nurturing parents. Services include individual, family, and group therapy, parenting education and more.

• Schedule: 40 Hours, 1st shift

Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities:

• Plans individual and group activities to stimulate growth in language, social, and motor skills such as learning to listen to instructions, playing with others, and using play equipment.

• Confers with parents and residential program staff regarding the physical, cognitive, and emotional status of the children under their care.

• Provides guidance to mothers during family time, assisting them with choosing age appropriate activities to do with children.

• Monitors the families on each floor and in common areas.

• Observes and supervises buildings and grounds and reports anything unusual to supervisor. Ensures the safety of the program by performing all security, monitoring, and supportive tasks as assigned.

• Completes all necessary checklists and paperwork for the second shift including documentation in the communication log each day.

• Participates in all aspects of the second shift, including medication check-in, and setting up new medication sheets.

• Interfaces in a professional manner with co-workers, supervisors, internal and external programs/agencies.

• Attends daily shift meeting, weekly staff meetings, and supervision.

• Provides transportation for families when necessary.

• Ensures a clean, safe working environment.

• Complies with all organization policies and procedures.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Education:

• Minimum of an Associate’s degree or equivalent education and training in child development, childhood education, and child psychology. At least three years’ experience working with children and families.

• Certification in CPR and valid MA driver’s license in good standing are required.

• Must demonstrate an ability to relate to a substance abuse treatment population in a sensitive manner, an interest and willingness to work in a multi-cultural setting, and must share a customer service orientation.

Pay Range:

$22.94 - $27.96

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
