The Utah Office of the Attorney General, Child Protection Division, seeks an attorney to represent DCFS in Fifth District Juvenile Court, handling abuse, neglect, and dependency matters in Saint George, Utah. The role requires managing a fast-paced caseload and performing substantial legal work.

Preference will be given to candidates with prosecution or trial experience and strong advocacy skills. Utah Bar admission in good standing is required; open through November 8, 2026.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and oral advocacy skills.
• Preference given to applicants with prosecution or other trial experience.
• Ability to immediately take over an existing caseload.
• Membership in the Utah State Bar in good standing is required.

Responsabilités

• Represent DCFS in Fifth District Juvenile Court in abuse, neglect and dependency proceedings.
• Prosecute matters at shelter, pre-trial, adjudication, disposition, review, permanency, and related hearings.
• Prepare summonses, petitions, subpoenas, discovery responses, motions, memoranda, orders, and other legal documents.
• Approve warrants to search for and remove children from parents' custody; screen cases with Child Protective Services and law enforcement.
• Represent DCFS at multi-disciplinary-team meetings, family-team meetings, and mediations; consult with DCFS representatives.
