Job summary

Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) is seeking a full-time Permanency Achievement Specialist. You will work Monday through Friday to remove barriers to permanency, secure placements for children, and coordinate with caseworkers, adoptions staff, and community providers to finalize permanency.

Required is a bachelor’s degree in social work or related field; CWEL is preferred. Strong communication skills, computer proficiency, and drive to support reunification or adoption are essential.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in social work or another related human service field is required.
  • CWEL preferred but not required.
  • Ability to engage with families and communicate effectively.
  • Must pass background check and Illinois licensing standards requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provides consultation regarding permanency issues and removes barriers to permanency.
  • Secures appropriate placements for children and monitors permanency progress.
  • Links caseworkers with recruitment resources, adoptions staff, and community providers.
  • Expedites permanency processes for children waiting for reunification or adoption/sub guardianship.
  • Completes required documentation and home studies for Adoption or Sub Guardianship subsidies.
  • Submits and follows up on subsidy packets with DCFS and related agencies.
  • Assists with ICPC documentation for out-of-state permanency options.
