Job summary

Austin Achieve Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Child Nutrition Server to join the campus nutrition team. This full-time role supports daily meal service, follows HACCP guidelines, and helps create a safe, pleasant dining environment for students and staff.

Candidates should have reliability, energy, teamwork, and experience in school nutrition; six hours of Child Nutrition training (or willingness to complete) and a food handler certification within the first week.

Responsibilities

• Arrive on time according to schedule.
• Prepare and serve meals per menu instructions.
• Store and maintain food at safe temperatures per HACCP.
• Set up service lines before meal periods.
• Adapt to substitutions while meeting service deadlines.
• Serve safe, nutritious meals to scholars.
• Assist with perpetual inventory as directed.
• Label, record, store or dispose of unused foods; report to supervisor.
• Wash and sanitize equipment before and after services.
• Support daily cleanup of preparation and service areas.
• Maintain a clean, safe food service environment.
• Help in the kitchen as needed.
• Attend professional development and staff meetings.
• Support recycling and composting efforts.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Child Nutrition Server is a full-time position that prepares and serves safe nutritious meals daily Provide a pleasant environment for all students and staff Maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work environment

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Arrive on time according to scheduled assigned
• Ability to prepare and serve meals according to the menu instructions
• Ability to keep food properly stored and at safe temperatures as described by the HACCP Plan.
• Ability to prepare service line/stations prior to meal services.
• Ability to react to change and substitutions in a productive and positive manner, meeting daily meal service deadlines.
• Ability to serve safe and nutritious meals to scholars.
• Assist with perpetual inventory as assigned by the Campus Supervisor.
• Properly labels, record, stores/dispose of any unused or left-over food and report to the Campus Supervisor.
• Wash and sanitize equipment used in preparation before and after services
• Assist with any clean up related to the preparation and service of meals daily.
• Maintain a clean and safe food service environment
• Help as needed in the kitchen
• Perform other duties as directed by supervisors.
• Attend professional development training with Child Nutrition Staff before the beginning of the school year and throughout the year.
• Attend staff meetings and school events.
• Support all efforts to recycle and compost

QUALIFICATIONS

• TEAM PLAYER: Maintain a positive attitude and listen respectfully to others
• EXPERIENCE: Previous success working in the School Nutrition program experience preferred
• Have six hours in Child Nutrition training or have the ability to complete six hours within the first year of work.
• Have food handlers certification or be able to complete certification within the firstweek of work
• Ability to deal with the physical aspects of the job including hours on your feet, maneuvering all child nutrition equipment and lifting heavy objects
