Responsibilities

We are looking for someone who is able to :

  • Manage day-to-day food operations in an institutional kitchen
  • Supervise and lead kitchen staff effectively
  • Ensure compliance with food service regulations and standards
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with staff, colleagues, and the community
  • Operate computer software, including Microsoft Office tools
  • Handle physical tasks such as lifting heavy items and standing for extended periods
  • Troubleshoot operational issues in the kitchen
  • Drive a motor vehicle to support program operations when necessary
What you will typically be responsible for
  • Ensuring adherence to daily food menus in accordance with program regulations
  • Maintaining meal production records and meal counts to meet program requirements
  • Ordering, receiving, and inventorying food, supplies, and equipment
  • Ensuring safe and sanitary operation of kitchen equipment and compliance with health and safety codes
  • Creating cycle menus in collaboration with the nutritionist to meet program regulations
  • Budget preparation and monitoring for the food service program
  • Interviewing, selecting, scheduling, supervising, and training kitchen staff
