Position Specifics: The role will work at Cache La Poudre Elementary School & Cache La Poudre Middle School. Scheduled hours are 6:00 AM‑1:30 PM, 7.5 hours per day for 180 work calendar days. Duration: Ongoing.
Pay Range: $22.64 – $25.36 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.

SUMMARY
Responsible for assisting with the quality‑efficient and cost‑effective management of the school kitchen. In conjunction with or in the absence of the kitchen manager, perform and oversee all aspects of food preparation and service of meals, including scheduling, directing, training, and supervising child nutrition workers. Maintain and review all kitchen financial records and reports, order, receive, store, rotate, and inventory all food and supplies, prepare and serve full‑range meals, and assist with production and service operations.
JOB TASKS
- Assist the kitchen manager in supervising, directing, and training kitchen staff; support meal preparation by cooking, pre‑portioning, setting up serving lines, condiment stands, and fruit and vegetable bar; prepare food items according to recipes and menus; control food and kitchen waste; maintain accurate daily production records.
- Clean kitchen equipment, utensils, work areas, tables, floors, and appliances; properly maintain equipment; empty trash and recycling containers; sweep and mop floors.
- Serve food and provide customer service and communication to students, staff, and the community.
- Operate the point‑of‑sale system: prepare and process payments, create day‑end reports, deposit money, verify correct change in the cash box, enroll customers with finger scanning as required, and close out sites daily.
- Assist with ordering, receiving, storing, and rotating food and supplies to maintain inventory control; properly receive, check‑in, and store food and equipment from vendors; maintain, date, and label food for storage; perform inventories and assist the manager with orders.
- Maintain and review all kitchen financial records, deposits, meal counts and change funds; verify accuracy daily.
- Ensure compliance with Health Department standards, sanitation, safety procedures, departmental policies, and state and federal regulations.
- Provide relief to the kitchen manager as needed; offer positive leadership to ensure teamwork and compliance with guidelines.
- Communicate, coordinate, and resolve issues with principal, school staff, parents, and supervisors; maintain excellent customer service, accurate signage, marketing, and food presentation.
- Attend all required departmental trainings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSES REQUIRED
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Previous institutional food service experience preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.
- Criminal background check required for hire.
- ServSafe certification required.
