Akron Children's Hospital in Akron, OH, is seeking a Child Life Specialist for the Surgery Center. This full-time, onsite position focuses on maximizing the emotional and developmental well-being of pediatric patients and their families throughout medical experiences.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Child Development or a related field, is a Certified Child Life Specialist within one year of employment, and has completed a 600-hour clinical internship. Current BLS is required.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Child Life specialization, or related field required
• Master's degree preferred
• Certified Child Life Specialist within one year of employment
• Current Health Care Provider BLS training required
• 600-hour clinical Child Life internship completed under supervision
• 0–2 years of relevant experience preferred
• No supervisory experience required

Responsabilidades

• Plan and implement comprehensive Child Life services.
• Provide preparation and adaptive coping strategies for patients and families.
• Educate and support patients and families; advocate for their needs.
• Educate on child development and impact of hospitalization.
• Supervise and train students and volunteers.
• Demonstrate knowledge to address physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
• Perform related duties as assigned

EMR experience (Epic or similar)

Educación

Bachelor's degree in Child Development/Child Life or related field

Master's degree preferred
