Summary
Plays an integral role in fostering the emotional, developmental, intellectual, and physical wellbeing of children in both inpatient and outpatient settings by creating a welcoming and nurturing environment. Ensures the comfort of patients and their families by demonstrating the principles of family-centered care and fostering positive hospital community relations.

Essential Functions
  • Assess children's response to illness, hospitalization, and/or treatment.
  • Respond promptly to child life orders.
  • Implement and enforce hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Develop goals for a family service plan based on assessed needs of family, parent, and child.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times.
  • Participate in developing performance standards with department leadership.
  • Communicate care plans with multidisciplinary team members as appropriate.
Education

Bachelor's Degree in Child Development required or Master's Degree preferred. This role does not accept experience in lieu of a degree.

Licenses and Credentials

Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) - preferred through the Association of Child Life Professionals Child Life Certification Commission.

Experience

0-1 year of related experience preferred.
