Job summary

Boston Children’s Hospital is seeking a Child Life Specialist for the Inpatient Surgical unit to meet patients’ psychosocial and developmental needs and to support adjustment to health care experiences. The role involves working with a multidisciplinary team, providing coping support during procedures, and assisting families from birth to young adulthood.

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree with a concentration in child life, a 600-hour internship under a certified specialist,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Child Life, or a closely related field with a concentration in child life.
• 600-hour Child Life internship under the supervision of a certified child life specialist.
• General skills to resolve problems requiring the use of child development theory, professional child life principles, and experienced-based knowledge.
• Well-developed writing skills, and excellent communication skills including conflict resolution to effectively work as a team member.
• Child Life Certification required within 1 year of hire

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
