AREA OF SUPPORT:

The Children's Specialty Clinic, Radiology, and the Emergency Department.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) functions within the policies, practices, and program plans of the Department of Nursing at the organization. Under the supervision of the Baird 5 (Inpatient Pediatrics) Nurse Manager, the CCLS is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating Child Life programming for hospitalized children to support their social, emotional, and physical well-being. Additionally, the CCLS oversees pediatric volunteers and orients hospital staff to the psychosocial and developmental needs of children and their families.

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor's degree in Child Life required; Master's degree preferred.
• Completion of a 600-hour internship under the supervision of a CCLS required.
• Certification as a CCLS is preferred; certification within 6 months of hire required.

EXPERIENCE:

• At least 1 year of experience working as a Child Life Specialist preferred.
