Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Certified Child Life Specialist to support children and families through illness, hospitalization and procedures. The role emphasizes evidence-based care, family-centered planning and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

The position requires ACLP credentials, a BLS, and a degree in Child Development or related field with ACLP course requirements completed. A sign-on bonus is available, with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree: Child Development including the 10 required courses as outlined by ACLP.
• Bachelor’s Degree: Related Field including the 10 required courses as outlined by ACLP.
• Successful completion of a 600 hour child life internship.
• Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) within 1 year - ACLP.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - AHA.

Responsibilities

• Assessment-Promotes the use of evidence-based practice using protocols and procedures.
• Observe and assess the needs and concerns of the child and family. Develops an individualized plan of care with the patient/family and health care team.
• Uses appropriate interventions identified in the plan of care to achieve outcomes and documents progress.
• Modifies plan of care based on evaluation and completes required documentation.
• Collaborates with the health care team to organize tasks from admission to discharge; advocates for patients with physicians when needed.
• Participates in performance improvement and patient/family satisfaction initiatives.
