Job summary

Penn State Health Milton Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA, seeks a Child Life Specialist to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate psychosocial interventions for pediatric patients and families. You will work in the inpatient setting and may utilize a facility dog to support therapy.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Child Life or related field and a 600-hour internship; one year supervised Child Life experience; a Master's and certification preferred.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Responsible for assessing , developing, planning, implementing and evaluating psychosocial interventions that support the educational, developmental, emotional and therapeutic needs of pediatric patients and their families. Utilizes a facility dog to provide therapeutic Child Life interventions within the inpatient setting.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Child Development, Family Studies, Education, or Psychology required or related degree.

  • One (1) year supervised experience in an established Child Life Program.

  • Completion of a 600-hour Child Life internship required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree preferred.

  • Child Life Certification preferred.
