SUMMARY
The Child Life Specialist (CLS) is a pediatric health care professional who works with children and families in the burn unit and other settings to help them cope with the challenges of hospitalization, injury, and disability. The CLS will provide children with age-appropriate preparation for medical procedures, pain management and coping strategies, and play and self-expression activities. The CLS will be a intergral member of the multidisciplinary team who provides information, support, and guidance to parents, siblings, and other family members.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Child Life or Child Development field is required.
  • Completion of a minimum of 480 hour Child Life internship required.
  • Child Life Professional Certification (CLPC) is required.
  • Child Life Specialist Certification (CLSC) is preferred.
  • Experience working in a hospital or healthcare setting is strongly preferred.
  • Social Services experience preferred.
