Description:
A Child Life Specialist (CLS) is a member of the healthcare team who works to address psychosocial and emotional concerns of infants, children, adolescents and young adults during their hospital experience. Responsible for supporting patients and their family members adjusting to illness, injury or loss in critical, acute and ambulatory settings. The CLS assesses the psychosocial, developmental and cultural needs of the patient and family and uses developmentally appropriate interventions to educate, prepare and support families to improve their coping with the hospital encounter. Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to advocate for emotionally safe, family-centered care for patients and families.
- Bachelor's Degree is required.
- Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience.
- Requires ACLP Certified Child Life Specialist Certification within One Year of Hire Date.
- Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association is required.
