Job summary

Commonwealth of Kentucky's Kentucky Department for Community Based Services seeks a Social Service Worker I to support family self-sufficiency and child safety. The role links children, families, and community partners, often requiring overtime and a strong professional ethic.

Responsibilities include investigations, assessments, case planning, referrals, and court reporting, with collaboration across agencies to promote safe, permanent homes and well-being for children and vulnerable adults.

Responsibilities

• Investigate allegations of child abuse, neglect, and/or dependency.
• Meet with family members to determine merits of a report of child neglect/abuse.
• Meet with school/medical staff to gather information.
• Complete detailed assessments based on home visits and meetings.
• Create case plans with families to address issues.
• Make referrals to community resources to aid families.
• Enter case information into the computer.
• Complete court reports as needed.
• Provide testimony during hearings.
• Collaborate with law enforcement, schools, counselors, and shelters.
