Position Type: Full-Time. Non-Exempt/Hourly.
Department: Family Support Center
Salary: $20.00 – $25.00 per hour

Position Summary

The Child Development Specialist oversees child development services within the Family Support Center, including programming for children from birth through age five, supervision of child development staff, parent education, developmental screenings, and compliance with Maryland Family Network (MFN) requirements.

Essential Responsibilities

• Plan and facilitate developmentally appropriate activities for children birth through age five.
• Supervise child development staff, interns, and volunteers.
• Conduct developmental monitoring and screenings.
• Maintain required records, documentation, and reports.
• Ensure a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment for children.
• Provide parent education, support, and referrals to community resources.
• Conduct outreach and recruitment activities.
• Participate in trainings, meetings, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Family Studies, Special Education, or a related field required.
• Related degrees must include at least 18 credit hours in Early Childhood Education coursework.
• Minimum of two (2) years of paid experience working with children from birth through age five.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of child development, early childhood education, and developmental screening practices.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and computer skills.

Additional Requirements

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to successfully complete required background checks.
• Willingness to complete required program trainings, including CPR and First Aid certification.
