Positive Development is seeking a part-time Child Development Specialist to work in Merrifield, VA and surrounding areas. You will coach children in homes or center settings, helping them build communication and daily living skills through play and guided activities.

You will be trained and supported by experienced clinicians, with opportunities for growth and performance-based bonuses. The role suits students or grads pursuing related fields and offers flexible evenings and weekend hours.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation (30–40 min drive radius).
Ability to perform physical tasks, including playing on the floor for up to 2–3 hours per session.
Lifts up to 40 lbs and moves quickly to ensure child safety.
Strong communication with families and teammates.

Responsibilities

Build communication, social, and daily living skills through play and activities.
Create meaningful connections to help children think, create, and engage with the world.
Follow a relationship-based intervention model to maximize outcomes with fewer hours.
Track progress by documenting session notes and goals.
Collaborate with clinicians and supervisors to build skills and confidence.
