Basic Function

Please note: Kern Community College District accepts applications for part-time, hourly faculty pools on a continuous basis. Qualified applicants will be contacted as needed within two years of application submission. The starting salary is $60.00/hour, with potential variation based on assignment type and LHE formula. For details, refer to the CCA collective bargaining agreement or college HR.

Representative Duties

The successful applicant will:

  • Provide instruction in Child Development and Education courses, possibly at multiple campus sites, including online, day, evening, and weekend classes.
  • Participate in student recruitment and transfer articulation activities.
  • Maintain current subject matter knowledge, develop and revise curriculum, and utilize multimedia technology.
  • Engage in departmental, college, and discipline-specific professional activities.
Desirable Qualifications

Bilingual/Spanish-speaking preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in child development, early childhood education, or related fields; or Bachelor's degree with relevant master's; or valid credential for teaching Child Development at California Community Colleges; or equivalent qualifications. Candidates must demonstrate sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds. Degrees from foreign institutions must be evaluated by a recognized credential evaluation service.
