Job summary

Friday Night Child Care is seeking a part-time Child Counselor in Palm Beach, FL to provide attentive care for members' and guests' children. The role requires fostering a safe, engaging environment and executing planned activities while upholding program standards.

Responsibilities include reading to children, supervising play and activities, and assisting with diapering and routine care. Strong communication and safety awareness are essential to support positive child development.

Qualifications

• Requires an associate degree in early childhood development or related field.
• 2+ years experience in child care in a preschool or before/after school setting.
• Ability to provide a safe, supportive environment and engage children positively.

Responsibilities

• Play games with children to encourage social skills.
• Read to children and supervise play activities.
• Plan music and arts and crafts activities for children.
• Resolve disputes between children and supervise safe play areas.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and assist with diapering/potty training as needed.
• Lead children in exercises and supervised outings with approval from coordinator.

• Give each child individual attention and guidance, help them to build their self-esteem and foster a sense ofindependence.
• Help teach children to share toys and to work ingroups.
• Provide a comfortable, safe and non-threatening environment forchildren.
• Firmly but fairly discipline children, help them control disruptive behavior and teach them good habits whennecessary.
• Requires being alert to and anticipating situations that would compromise the children's physical or emotionalwell-being.
• Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.

Licenses and Special Requirements

• Child Development Associate credential from the Council for Professional Recognition orChild CareProfessional credential from the National Child Care Associationdesirable.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Requires constant standing, walking, bending over, stooping and lifting to tend to the children's needs and provide a cleanenvironment.
• Setting may be noisy and cluttered attimes.
