Discovery Point - Mooresville is seeking a temporary/backup Child Care Center Cook. You will prepare meals and snacks on schedule, ensure health/safety compliance, and may assist in classrooms as needed. Strong cooking skills and the ability to follow menus and health guidelines are essential.

Responsibilities include inventory, proper labeling, and maintaining records. You will interact with children and families, ensuring a friendly, supportive environment and reporting any concerns per state

Qualifications

• ServSafe Certification required.
• Food Handling Certification or willingness to obtain.
• Child Care Background Check.
• Must meet state licensing requirements for education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepares meals and snacks according to approved menu and posted schedule, ensuring health and safety standards.
• Maintains inventory of food and assists with ordering as directed.
• Labels and stores all food items following health guidelines.
• Keeps master menu and communicates changes to parents.
• Provides meals for children with dietary restrictions/allergies.
• Cleans up after meals, washing and sanitizing dishes and cookware.
• Performs routine kitchen maintenance and reports needs to Director.
• Interacts with children and families in a friendly, supportive manner.
• Follows state guidelines on supervision of children; participates in staff meetings.

Job Description: Child Care Center Cook

Job Summary:

We are looking for a temporary/backup cook and a floating teacher. Prepares meals and snacks for the children enrolled in the Center ensuring that meals and snacks are ready at scheduled times. Prepares and serves food according to proper health and safety methods. May assist in classroom when necessary.

Essential Functions/Job Responsibilities:

• Prepares meals and snacks according to approved menu & posted schedule, and distributes food ensuring health and safety standards are met.
• Maintains inventory of food; calculates appropriate amounts of food needed, assists with ordering as directed.
• Properly labels and stores all food items; follows all health and safety related and/or OSHA guidelines.
• Maintains required records of meal and snacks; maintains master menu, including making approved menu changes when directed and keeping parents informed of menu changes.
• Prepare meals for children who have dietary restrictions / allergies
• Performs clean up duties after meals and snacks including food clean-up, washing/sanitizing dishes, utensils, and cookware.
• Performs routine kitchen related maintenance and notifies Director about maintenance needed if not performed.
• Interacts with children, and families, being friendly and supportive, following company procedures and state guidelines on the supervision of children.
• Reports suspected abuse or neglect as mandated by state regulations.
• Attends all staff meetings, training sessions, meetings and programs as requested by the Director.
• Performs other duties as requested by Director
• May assist in classrooms as needed.
