Job summary

The Children's Home in Penfield, NY is seeking 2nd shift, 3rd shift or relief Childcare Workers to support youth from challenging backgrounds. You will help with safety, supervise youth, and build therapeutic relationships in residential and community settings.

The role emphasizes compassionate guidance, behavioral and mental health support, and collaboration with staff. Candidates must be 21+, have a high school diploma, a valid driver's license, and a commitment to fostering a nurturing

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required
• 21 years of age or older required
• Driver's License and ability to maintain insurability throughout employment required
• Experience working in human services, mental or behavioral health, or with youth preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide for the safety and well-being of youth with behavioral and mental health challenges, through discipline, crisis intervention, CARE principles, and supervision.
• Expect to encounter challenging behaviors and respond with patience and professionalism.
• Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with the children and their families.
• Promote the growth of guardian-child relationships.
• Provide for the safety and well-being of the children in care and supervision of their whereabouts, attention to their needs.
• Communicate regularly with the unit supervisor, social worker and medical staff on each child's progress and needs.
• Provide for growth and development of each child through instruction, counseling and guidance on conduct, hygiene, social skills and routines.
• Be responsible for the security of the unit and office areas.
• Provide safe and responsible transportation for youth, families, and other Children's Home affiliates as required by program expectations.

Responsibilities

• Provide for the safety and well-being of youth struggling with behavioral and mental health challenges, through the judicious use of discipline, therapeutic crisis intervention, CARE principles, and supervision. Effectively communicate all behavioral, emotional, and medical needs to staff.
• Expect to encounter challenging behaviors and be prepared to respond with patience and professionalism.
• Develop and maintain therapeutic-positive relationships with the children and their families.
• Promote the growth of guardian-child relationship.
• Provide for the safety and well-being of the children in care and supervision of their whereabouts, attention to their needs and remembrance of their unique life situation always.
• Communicate regularly with the unit supervisor, social worker and medical staff as needed on each child's progress, behavioral, emotional, and medical needs.
• Provide for the growth and development of each child in care through instructing, counseling and directing them in matters of personal conduct, hygiene, appearance, social skills, school, daily routines and work habits.
• Be responsible for the security of the unit and unit office areas.
• Provide safe and responsible transportation for youth, families, and other Children's Home affiliates as required by program expectations.

Requirements

Education:
