Job Summary
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Supervise children (ages 1 – 5+) at all times, maintaining a secure, safe environment for children to play and learn in.
- Organize child snack distribution and clean up.
- Watch for signs of emotional stress and contact the parent via text if necessary.
- Communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Change diapers/ toilet‑train children where necessary.
- Participate in dismissal procedures at the end of after‑care, ensuring that each child leaves with the appropriate adult (i.e., an authorized adult).
- Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Support and adhere to the policies and procedures of the parish and Archdiocese of San Antonio.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrate professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits.
- Maintain a stimulating and varied schedule of activities appropriate for the students in a well‑ordered environment.
- Clean and disinfect items used prior to the end of the shift.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Director.
- Keep a copy of medical and emergency records and first aid kit on hand daily.
- Ensure that during the hours of operation there is at least one staff member trained in CPR/First Aid.

- Required to work some nights and weekends.
- Required to manage high to moderate levels of stress.
- Required to work in standard nursery conditions.
Mental/Physical Demands
- Required to lift or carry supplies and students (up to 30 lbs.).
- Required to maintain composure and avoid inappropriate displays of anger.
- Required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, grab, pull, hear, see, and speak on a daily basis.
- Required to perform repetitive physical tasks.
- Required to monitor students in a variety of locations including those with noise and activity.
- Be able to adapt to continuously changing, fast‑paced environment and make the children’s needs the primary focus.
Evaluation
Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Director.
Position Requirements
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- CDA credential preferred.
Experience
- At least 18 years old.
- One (1) year of experience in a childcare setting.
Other Requirements
- Excellent communication skills.
- Be a team player.
- Have reliable transportation.
- CPR and First Aid certification (can be obtained during job training).
- Must pass archdiocesan Safe Environment Requirements and background screening.
