Qualifications

  • Must pass Texas DPS Fingerprint-based Applicant Clearinghouse screening.

Job Summary

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise children at all times, maintaining a secure, safe environment for children to play and learn in.
  • Supervise and train assistants in your room on policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Create and implement lesson plans.
  • Complete necessary classroom reports.
  • Prepare daily reports for each child in your classroom.
  • Attend staff meetings outside of work hours.
  • Provide positive feedback to parents.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and other professionals.
  • Adhere to proceedings and regulations with the DFPS.
  • Change diapers/toilet train children where necessary.
  • Always comply with the presentation requirements set by the school.
  • Attend ongoing training to keep education and regulations up to date.
  • Participate in dismissal procedures at the end of after care, ensuring that each child leaves with the appropriate adult.
  • Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
  • Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Support and adhere to the policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese of San Antonio, including the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding school matters.
  • Demonstrate professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits.
  • Maintain a stimulating and varied schedule of activities appropriate for the students in a well‑ordered environment.
  • Positive interaction with parents.
  • Attend Archdiocesan, on‑campus, and other in‑services as required.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Director.
  • Have copy of medical and emergency records and first aid kit on hand daily.
  • Ensure that during the hours of operation there is at least one staff member trained in CPR/First Aid.

  • Required to perform repetitive physical tasks such as computer keyboarding, writing, and reading.
  • Required to monitor students in a variety of locations including those with noise, activity, and inclement conditions.
  • Be an educator.
  • Be able to adapt to continuously changing, fast‑paced environment and make the children’s needs the primary focus.
Position Requirements
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • CDA credential preferred.
Experience
  • At least 18 years old.
  • One (1) year of experience in a childcare setting.
Other Requirements
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Be a team player.
  • Have reliable transportation.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (can be obtained during job training).
  • Must pass archdiocesan Safe Environment Requirements and background screening.
