Responsibilities

• Implement curriculum within established guidelines.
• Nurture children through purposeful programming that promotes achievement and belonging.
• Supervise children, classroom activities, assistant teachers, and accommodations for individuals with disabilities.
• Conduct ongoing observations and developmental assessments of children.
• Build positive relationships with children and families, conduct parent conferences, and communicate effectively.
• Support children in need.
• Supervise and mentor Assistant Teachers and Support Staff.
• Use sound judgment and make independent decisions affecting the YMCA and its departments.
• Follow YMCA policies and ensure children's safety and well-being.
• Plan and execute developmentally appropriate activities.
• Maintain a zero-tolerance policy for abuse and actively participate in youth protection.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 20 years old.
• Meet MOA or NAEYC standards with a minimum of 9 credit hours in early childhood education.
• At least 1-2 years of experience working with children.
• Strong communication, organizational, and detail-oriented skills.
• Ability to relate well to children, parents, staff, and volunteers.
