Job summary

The Learning Lamp is hiring Early Learning Substitute Staff to support our child care centers in Fayette County. You will help supervise daily routines, assist with activities, and maintain a safe, engaging environment for children.

We offer flexible hours within our 6 a.m.–6 p.m. schedule and provide training, development opportunities, and childcare discounts. This role requires a HS diploma, ability to lift 40 lb, and CPR/First Aid certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; Early Childhood Education certification is a plus.
• Experience with children preferred.
• Must pass required clearances and training (mandated reporter training, physical, TB test).
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds regularly.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend for long periods.
• Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate activities.
• CPR and first aid certification.
• Patience, creativity, and love for working with children.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and well-being of children at all times.
• Supervise indoor and outdoor activities in a secure environment.
• Assist with feeding, diapering, toileting, and basic care routines.
• Foster independence and self-help skills appropriate to age.
• Follow daily schedule and implement age-appropriate activities.
• Support classroom staff with games, crafts, and learning activities.
• Maintain positive communication with parents, children, and staff.
• Encourage positive behavior with patience and redirection.
• Help maintain cleanliness and hygiene in classroom and facility.
• Assist with documentation of daily activities and incidents.
• Support positive relationships with families through professional communication.
• Be flexible to work shifts based on program and staffing needs.
