Job summary

La Petite Academy in Lake in the Hills, IL is hiring a Child Care Cook, Food Specialist to prepare home-style meals for students and staff, adapt to menus, and ensure meals meet USDA and licensing standards. The role supports classrooms and collaborates with the Director.

You will manage inventory, follow safety rules, and help in the classroom when needed. The position offers a family-friendly, supportive environment with training and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Work experience in cooking and/or food preparation for multiple individuals in a childcare facility, preferred.
• A willingness to learn and adhere to all current state and local regulations.
• Flexibility as to the hours and schedule of work.

Responsibilities

• Create home-style, nutritional meal plans within the school menu and budget, preparing meals and snacks for children and staff.
• Follow the daily menu provided by the Director, incorporating USDA, licensing, and health department regulations.
• Maintain inventory of food and supplies and order more when needed.
• Assist in classrooms as needed as an Assistant Teacher/Floater.
