Job summary

BrightPath Kids in Simsbury, CT seeks a Teacher Assistant to support teachers and families in a home-like setting, aligned with NAEYC guidelines. You will help supervise children, assist with instruction, and maintain a safe, welcoming environment.

Paid training is provided. Full-time hours are 9:00 AM–6:00 PM with no evenings or weekends, and benefits include childcare discount, 401(k) with company match, health/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, PTO, and holidays.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and stay organized during busy shifts.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with classroom instruction and activities.
• Ensure safety and supervision for children aged 6 weeks to 12 years.
• Decorate and maintain welcoming classrooms and spaces.
• Foster a warm, safe environment encouraging exploration.
• Communicate effectively with parents/guardians about their child.
• Support teachers and families to create a home-like setting.

What will you be doing?

As a Teacher Assistant, you will work side-by-side with teachers and families to provide a home away from home for children in our care, according to NAEYC guidelines. Responsibilities include:

• Ensuring the safety and supervision of children ages 6 weeks – 12 years.
• Assisting teachers with instruction in the classroom.
• Decorating inside and outside of classrooms as needed.
• Maintaining a warm and safe environment that is clean and permits children to grow and explore.
• Interacting with children to encourage their involvement in activities.
• Providing effective communication with parents/guardians about their child.
