Summary
The Child Care Assistant Teacher is responsible for supporting school readiness, monitoring developmental outcomes, and providing responsive caregiving along with developmentally appropriate and inclusive learning experiences for enrolled children. They assist in creating and maintaining a positive, high-quality early learning environment, aligned with the Child Care Licensing Minimum Standards, Texas Early Learning Guidelines, and PreK guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Articulating and demonstrating sound early childhood principles and best practices.
• Communicating effectively with children, families, and staff.
• Assisting in the implementation of lesson plans, routines, and curricula.
• Demonstrating professionalism in decision-making and leadership.

Education and Experience

• At minimum, a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or equivalent, or enrolled in a program leading to an associate or baccalaureate degree, or in a CDA credential program to be completed within two years of hire.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Minimum of 24 months classroom teaching experience in a licensed Texas Child Care Center.
• Associate degree in early childhood education or related field preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Demonstrate sound early childhood principles and effective teaching practices.
• Actively supervise and ensure the health, well-being, and safety of children.
• Implement age-appropriate lesson plans and curriculum components with fidelity, supporting individual needs.
• Facilitate family engagement, including two parent conferences per year.
• Communicate effectively with children, families, and staff to implement school readiness strategies.
• Ensure classroom activities align with Texas Early Learning Guidelines and PreK Guidelines.
• Coordinate classroom staff and volunteers in daily routines.
• Apply positive decision-making strategies, demonstrating professionalism and leadership.
