Position Summary: The Child Care Assistant provides safe, engaging childcare for infants and young children (ages 0–5) during programs and events at the Tustin Ranch Corps. This role supports the smooth operation of ministry and community programs by ensuring a nurturing environment for children while their parents participate.

Essential Functions:

• Know, explain and exemplify the mission, purpose and values of The Salvation Army in Orange County.
• Develop appropriate relationships with associates, guests, members, volunteers, partners and vendors, maintaining appropriate boundaries.
• Communicate professionally, responding to operational needs and conflicts.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Complete annual advanced training including Protecting the Mission, Sexual Harassment, and other required courses.
• Guard all Salvation Army resources within guidelines established by law, policy and procedure.

Specific Duties:

• Provide safe, attentive childcare for children ages 0–5 during corps programs and services.
• Supervise children in designated areas, including the Creator’s Corner Preschool facility when applicable.
• Follow all child safety policies and procedures in compliance with Protecting the Mission.

Working Conditions: Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist, operate a computer, fax, telephone, and lift up to 25 lbs.

Pay Rate: $17–$18/hr.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Valid California driver’s license.
• A deep understanding of the mission of The Salvation Army.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

• Driving test and clean MVR check.
• Criminal background check for work with children and annual Protecting the Mission training.
