Job summary

FosterAdoptConnect is seeking Behavioral Interventionists to support children facing behavioral health challenges in Leavenworth, KS. The role is part-time with afternoon, evening, and weekend shifts, working with youth to develop emotional regulation and independence.

You will follow individualized behavioral plans, receive ongoing training, and engage clients 3–5 times per week in activities aligned with their interests and goals. Training and supervision provided.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience working with elevated behavioral needs, preferred.
  • Must be willing and able to perform safety holds on clients at immediate risk for harming themselves or others, following paid training.
  • Must be able to navigate stairs, climb, twist, bend, and lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Must have smartphone (Android/iPhone) and laptop/computer willing to use for work purposes.
  • Willing to commute up to 30 miles to a client’s home.
  • Valid driver’s license, car insurance, and reliable transportation.
  • Maintain First Aid/CPR and CPI Certifications

About The Behavioral Interventionist Program

Behavioral Interventionists work one-on-one with children facing mental and behavioral health challenges, often with histories of trauma, abuse, or neglect. Thesechildren and teensmay experience behavioral or relationship difficulties that impact placement stability. Using trauma-informed approaches, staff support daily living skills, emotional regulation, healthy relationshipsthroughengaging activities

What You’ll Be Doing

Behavioral Interventionists (BIs) work with children on neurodevelopmental activities that help build healthier patterns for emotional regulation and independence. Through role-modeling, coaching, and redirection,staffsupport children in developing positive skills and managing emotions more effectively.

BIs follow individualized behavioral plans while receiving ongoing training, supervision, and professional development. Staff create engaging activities based on each child's interests and goals and typically work with clients 3–5 times per week during afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

Our staff help children build the skills they need to develop healthy relationships, improve communication, and succeed at home, school, and in their communities. Our staff supportand adhere to the family’sroutine and structures while modeling and offering supportive behavioral strategies.

Compensation & Benefits
