Summary
The purpose of the Child and Youth Program Custodian position is to perform semiskilled labor and cleaning tasks in CYP facilities, including Child Development Centers (CDCs), School Age Care (SAC) programs, Youth Programs, Child Development Home (CDH) offices, and lending libraries.
Responsibilities
- Perform custodial and housekeeping services according to established specifications, ensuring child and youth routines are not disturbed.
- Clean floors, carpets, fixtures, surfaces, windows, and walls using appropriate tools and chemicals.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of restrooms, including disinfecting and replenishing supplies.
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment, manage supplies, and report needs for repairs or restocking.
- Ensure safety by inspecting grounds and keeping pathways clear.
- Assist with moving, setup, and cleanup for special events as needed.
- Follow security, fire, and sanitation policies and procedures.
- Serve as a mandatory reporter for child abuse and neglect cases.
Requirements
- Complete background checks, including fingerprint, Child Care check, and SCHR check.
- Pass E-Verify, physical exam, and provide immunization records.
- Be able to walk, stand, bend, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform physical tasks.
- Be 18 years or older and obtain necessary security clearance.
- Register or be exempt from Selective Service.
- Participate in direct deposit and provide a Social Security Card.
Qualifications
Applicants should demonstrate knowledge of cleaning agents, operation of cleaning equipment, physical ability for manual tasks, and effective communication skills in English. A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
