Summary

This position is located at Selfridge Army National Guard Base, Michigan.

Child and Youth Services (CYS) Employee Childcare Fee:

  • First Child: 100% discount (for employees working at least 15 hours per week)
  • Second and Subsequent Child: 25% discount (for employees working at least 15 hours per week)

Salary: $18.51 to $20.80 per hour, determined by education and experience per qualifications (Entry/Skill/Target).

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a Child and Youth Program Assistant, maintaining control and accounting for the whereabouts and safety of children and youth.
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct activities that meet the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs for program participants based on group and individual needs.
  • Establish a program environment that sustains participant interest and promotes positive interactions with other children, youth, and adults.
  • Help prepare, arrange, and maintain indoor and outdoor activity areas and materials to accommodate daily schedules and provide options for children with special requirements.
  • Maintain program participation data and complete daily reports.
Requirements
  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card required.
  • Minimum 18 years of age at appointment.
  • One‑year probationary period may be required.
  • Pass employment verification (E‑Verify) check.
  • Current health assessment documenting good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease, and required immunizations (including annual influenza vaccination) per Army and DoD policy.
  • May be required to work irregular hours, evenings, and weekends.
  • For positions in Child Development Centers, possess and maintain physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs., walk, bend, stoop, and stand routinely.
  • Report all suspected incidents of child abuse/neglect.
  • Administer medications prescribed by a physician to children/youth, perform CPR and first aid, and provide reasonable accommodations to children/youth with special needs if trained.
  • Travel to on‑and off‑post locations may be required; duties involve working indoors and outdoors.
  • Complete background checks per AR 215‑3, paragraph 2, and a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Meet qualification, eligibility, and background requirements for this position.
  • Complete annual or transition training requirements and demonstrate on‑job competence.

For Entry Level (CY‑01):

  1. High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
  2. Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.

Minimum: high school diploma or GED.

Proof of education required at application. Education must be directly related to the position; general education courses do not count.
