Pay Range

This range is provided by United States Space Force. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Base pay range: $18.00/yr - $20.80/yr

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a Child and Youth Program Assistant (CYPA) in one or more child and youth programs, ensuring the safety and well-being of children and youth.
  • Provide care, supervision, and oversight for program participants.
  • Assist in preparing age-appropriate activities; supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, field trips, outings, and special events; arrange and serve snacks/meals.
  • Follow policies and regulations; may be required to transport children in government vehicles.
Level-specific duties
  • Target Level: Coordinate and conduct activities for children/youth aged 6 weeks to 18 years, create welcoming environments, implement programs for children with special needs, lead activities, and brief staff and parents.
  • Intermediate Level: Assist in planning and conducting activities, create positive environments, implement daily schedules, and conduct inventory.
  • Entry Level: Perform routine tasks, assist with planned activities, create welcoming environments, and attend to children’s physical needs.
Requirements
  • Complete pre-employment checks and a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Meet physical requirements, including a physical exam.
  • Maintain current immunizations, including annual influenza vaccination.
  • Complete required training, including Food Handlers certification, within specified timeframes.
Qualifications

Open to all applicants. Eligibility is based on experience, education, and other criteria, with proof required at application time. Must meet specific experience requirements for each level, such as:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • For target level: 18 months of childcare/youth program experience, relevant credentials, or related college coursework.
  • For intermediate level: 6 months of experience in group programs and completion of AF modules.

  • Childcare fee discounts are available for staff.
  • Must be at least 18 years old or a dependent of a Service Member or DoD Civilian.
  • English language proficiency required.
  • Other employment conditions and preferences apply.
