Job summary

Children's Health Council in Palo Alto is seeking a licensed LMFT or LCSW to provide therapy to teens with anxiety and depression. The role includes individual, family, group, and collateral therapy, plus collaboration with school personnel and other disciplines.

Strong licensure, pediatric clinical experience, and comfort with EHR are required. The position emphasizes teamwork, flexible hours including afternoon/evening, and adherence to ethical and legal standards.

Qualifications

• Must hold an active California license to practice in a mental health field (LMFT/LCSW).
• Minimum of 3 years post-degree experience in pediatric clinics or school-based settings preferred.
• Maintain licenses with continuing education credits and documentation as required by CA boards.
• Adhere to ethical, legal, and confidentiality standards (HIPAA) and CHC policies.
• Knowledge of ADHD, LD, anxiety, depression, and autism spectrum disorders; experience with adolescent therapy.
• Strong teamwork, time management, and ability to work with teens and families.

Responsibilities

• Conduct clinical interviews with parents and clients, form case formulations, and share insights with the team.
• Develop and deliver psychological treatment plans for teens and families, including collateral therapy.
• Coordinate care with SLP, OT, education, psychology, and psychiatry; attend meetings.
• Lead in-service trainings; present continuing education and parent education as needed.
• Attend clinical staff and team meetings; meet productivity expectations and reach full productivity by month three.

Job description

In this role you will have the opportunity to be an important part of this new initiative by providing therapy to teens dealing with anxiety and depression. The therapy you provide may be individual, family, group and/or collateral therapy.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive clinical interviews with parents and clients, develop case formulation and synthesize/disseminate significant information to team members.
• Develop and deliver psychological treatment plans for teens and their families, which may include individual, family, and parent and collateral therapy.
• Coordinate clinical care with other disciplines including SLP, OT, education, psychology and psychiatry.
• Conduct in-service training and seminars at CHC or within the community, including continuing education and parent education.
• Attend clinical staff and team meetings as assigned.
• Adhere to all mental health legal and ethical mandates and guidelines in the execution of duties, including timely completion of charting, billing, report preparation and ethical/confidentiality issues as outlined by the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy or National Association of Social Workers.
• Participate in IEP conferences and other school meetings to assist school personnel in understanding client issues and rationale for implementation of recommendations when clinically valid.
• Meet productivity expectations as assigned by the Division Director.
• Perform at full productivity at the completion of the 3rd month of hire

Qualifications:

• LMFT/LCSW from an accredited graduate school, preferably with at least 3 years post degree experience in either/both a pediatric clinic and/or school-based setting
• Valid California license to practice in a mental health field required
• Maintenance of valid California license with documentation of continuing education credits submitted to the Board of Behavioral Sciences with copy provided to Division Director
• Adherence to all professional, ethical, legal and confidentiality issues outlined by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy or National Association of Social Workers and State and Federal laws (e.g., HIPAA)
• Knowledge and understanding of CHC's four areas of expertise: ADHD, LD, anxiety and depression and Autism Spectrum disorders
• Knowledge and skills in adolescent individual and family therapies, case formulations and treatment planning
• Passion and enthusiasm about working with teens
• Availability to work when teens are available, including afternoon and early evening as needed
• Excellent time management and material organizational skills
• Ability to work in team-oriented environment
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with both client and colleagues
• Flexibility to respond to changing circumstances and priorities within the agency
• Knowledge and use of computers and an Electronic Health Record (EHR) is essential.
