Job summary

South Coast Community Services in California seeks licensed mental health clinicians to deliver comprehensive mental health services in both in-office and telehealth settings. You will conduct assessments, provide individual and family therapy, and develop evidence-based treatment plans for diverse client populations.

Clinicians collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, participate in on-call rotations, and may supervise groups or family sessions.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field.
  • PsyD/PhD/LCSW/LMFT licensed.
  • 2+ years' experience in assessment/diagnostic skills & individual and family therapy.
  • Trained and/or certified in at least 2 EBPs with at least 1 year experience.
  • Must complete ADHD therapy training within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide trauma-informed individual and/or family therapy and assessments.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans.
  • Administer measures such as GAD-7 and PHQ-9 and use results to inform treatment.

Position Summary

South Coast Community Services takes pride in providing our staff with competitive compensation, opportunities for professional growth, access to diverse client populations, clinical autonomy, and a strong support system of seasoned employees. Clinicians will provide comprehensive mental health services and develop and implement therapeutic treatment plans. Services include, but are not limited to, assessment, psychotherapy, case management, psychoeducation, and crisis intervention. Clinicians may also be responsible for facilitating therapeutic groups or family sessions and may be asked to participate in an on-call rotation. Clinicians will also assist in coordinating and collaborating with outside agencies such as Probation Departments, Schools, Juvenile Dependency Court, and County Behavioral Health Services. This position is eligible for bonuses and merit increases throughout your accumulation of clinical hours, attainment of licensure, and experience in the position post-licensure.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Utilize a trauma-informed approach when working with children and their families.
  • Provide individual and/or family therapy, formulate diagnoses and complete clinical assessments and treatment plans.
  • Acquire and apply up-to date knowledge of evidenced based interventions and methodologies.
  • Administer measures such as the GAD-7 and PHQ-9 and utilize results to inform treatment.
  • Utilize Whole Person Care model when treatment planning to maximize client empowerment.
  • Comply with all HIPAA and SCCS confidentiality standards.
  • Adhere to all relevant standards and regulations for productivity, timeliness, and documentation.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with outside agencies to ensure clients' treatment goals are met and in compliance with court-orders.
  • Attend all required meetings, such as Children and Family Team meetings.
  • Effectively collaborate with the program's multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive and cohesive care.
  • Skillfully manage crisis situations and utilize de-escalation techniques as appropriate.
  • Clinicians will have the opportunity to provide psychotherapy to commercially insured clients for an additional stipend through South Coast's Hope Healing Connection Program.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Microsoft Outlook and able to navigate electronic health records systems.
  • Understanding of the child welfare system and child development principles.
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, behavioral interventions, and therapeutic approaches for high-risk youth.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, remain organized and manage multiple tasks at once.
  • Ability to work effectively as a multidisciplinary team.
Requirements
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field required.
  • PsyD/PhD/LCSW/LMFT.
  • Licensed (2 years post licensure preferred)
  • 2+ years' experience in assessment/diagnostic skills & individual and family therapy skills.
Licensure, Registration, Certification
  • Trained and/or certified in at least 2 EBP's with at least 1 year of experience working in that EBP, for example: EMDR, PCIT, TF-CBT.
  • Must complete training in ADHD therapy services within 6 months of hire.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to drive a motor vehicle without restrictions, often in heavy traffic and frequently long distances (one hour or more) to ensure safe transport to client settings and to safely transport clients to appointments as needed.
  • Senses of vision, hearing and smell sufficient to regularly operate a motor vehicle, to visualize threats in the environment or risks to clients, and to operate safely in the field.
  • Required to occasionally lift and carry 10-20 pounds.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, climb stairs (1 or more flights) and walk while in route to and during family visits.
  • Regularly required to sit and use computer in office settings.
