As a Psychiatrist:

  • The inpatient Psychiatrist provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations of primary and secondary psychiatric disorders and assesses contribution of comorbid medical illness and addictions in an inpatient setting.
  • A Psychiatrist collaborates closely in treatment planning with other psychiatry clinic staff involved in patient’s care.
  • Use a variety of methods to evaluate a patient, such as interviewing the patient, their family or other persons.
  • Develop a treatment plan according to the needs of the patient’s needs and extent of emotional, social, cognitive, developmental, or behavioral disorder.
  • Treat a patient using psychotherapeutic methods and medication, monitoring the effects of any medication, and adjusting treatment where necessary.
  • Consult with the patient’s Primary Care Physician, Nurses, or other health care providers.
  • Provide crisis intervention when needed.
  • Write and maintain patient and clinical records, including the type of treatment and medication administered.
  • Keep up to date with professional job knowledge by reading publications, attending educational conferences, or maintaining professional networks.
  • A psychiatrist complies with all policies and procedures, especially as pertains to professional conduct, confidentiality, infection control and safety, and treats all patients and staff with courtesy, compassion, and competence.

A Psychiatrist will have the following:

  • Board certified/eligible for certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology at initial appointment, and Board certified by the next re-appointment cycle (2yrs).
  • Child & Adolescent Board Certified
  • Unrestricted licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • Strong teaching and clinical skills
  • Commitment to quality, patient-centered healthcare
  • Ability to provide leadership to nonphysician mental health providers
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills to work with clinical peers and medical/surgical colleagues, to provide integrated care and administrative collaboration
  • Current Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and state registration for Massachusetts to prescribe controlled substances.
