Job summary

Albertina Kerr Centers is seeking a Psychiatric Technician to provide direct care for children and adolescents in a Subacute program in Portland, OR. You will facilitate groups, support daily activities, and apply a strength-based problem-solving approach.

The role involves working with a diverse youth population, including transgender and nonbinary individuals, and requires the ability to lift and perform physical interventions per OIS guidelines.

Qualifications

• Ability to interact effectively with clients, families, and peers.
• Adept problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills, and capacity to learn new operating systems and applications.
• Basic math skills.
• Physical requirements: ability to lift, push, bend and pull, stand or move about; raise arms in an unsupported position, twist from side to side, reach for objects, and perform repetitive hand operations for over five hours daily.
• Ability to safely perform Oregon Intervention System (OIS) requirements for physical intervention techniques.

Responsibilities

• Conducts evaluations and assessments of clients.
• Ensures clients' personal safety and provides basic needs: food, clothing, hygiene assistance.
• Consults treatment plan to implement appropriate care for developmental needs.
• Teaches social skills and provides socialization opportunities.
• Facilitates educational and therapeutic skills groups.
• Fulfills duties of a mandatory abuse reporter.
• Documents notes and incident reports.
• Performs safeguarding interventions.
• Completes cleaning and housekeeping tasks.
